2024 President’s Mystery Bus Tour

The 2024 edition of the President’s Mystery Bus Tour occurred on the evening of Saturday, September 21st.

This event is funded 100% by the club’s Social Fund and individual club member contributions throughout the year as part of fun contests and activities during our weekly meetings. Many club members also provide direct donations to the social fund. Social Fund events are intended to build fellowship among club members and to allow us to engage in fun events throughout the year.

The evening began with our arrival to the bus pickup location at the Castlegar Complex, and proceeded with a tour through Castlegar, Trail, and on to Nelson while enjoying a wonderful array of appetizers provided by Kim’s Creations. Our final destination was Nelson, where we enjoyed a fantastic dinner at the Adventure Hotel.

Our on-bus entertainment was focused on a participation model, where participants were entered into a draw for a special prize at the end of the night based on how many times they contribute on the open mic. This entertainment included various stories, commentaries, and jokes from our club members and partners or guests, with a special thanks to Jane Lippa for her always-entertaining “stand-up” routine! Most jokes were PG13, but there were several that broke the ratings scale 😊.

Every Mystery Tour always begins with a contest: Who can guess the final destination or venue where dinner is served? There was no correct answer, which means the secret was well kept and surprisingly different from expectations! As there was no contest winner, a draw of entrants was made for the venue prize.

Thanks again to Rob & the team at the Adventure Hotel in Nelson for their hospitality, and to Kim for the on-bus culinary experience. A special thanks to Captain Dave of Kootenay Charters for the smooth ride, and my partner Leanne for providing the prizes! Also, a big thank you to everyone else who has assisted in the planning of this event.
