At the September 25 Castlegar City Council meeting, members of the Castlegar Rotary Club presented to council the Club’s proposal to beautify the highway interchange. The project would enhance investments made by the city, Sculpturewalk, and Communities in Bloom. If approved, our Club would be looking for additional local contractor partnerships to help with things like site prep, topsoil, soil amendments, and accent rocks.
The response from council was very positive. “I love it” said councillor Sue Heaton-Sherstobitoff. “it has been an ugly, sore spot for years.” The proposal was referred to City staff for them to come back to council with a report on how a partnership with the city could work.
